Flir MR160 Review - Flir Thermal and Moisture Imaging Meter with 80x60 Lepton Thermal Imager
Today I am reviewing the MR160 Thermal and Moisture Imaging Meter from Flir. The Flir MR160 is a unique thermal imaging meter because it also detects moisture, making it a 2-in-1 device. This great combination allows the user to view thermal images while also checking the area for any possible moisture problems. The Flir MR160 is great for home weatherization, HVAC, restoration contractors, building diagnostics, locating missing insulation, finding water damage, detecting air leaks, finding electrical problems, finding destructive pests, locating mold and rot, inspecting various flooring such as laminates, resilient flooring, porcelain tiles, ceramic, brick, plaster, wood, drywall, residential roofing, asphalt composition shingles, and other building materials.
The Flir MR160 can make non-intrusive and intrusive moisture measurements, take high quality thermal images, and generate reports with the free FLIR tools software. The Flir MR160 uses Flir’s advanced infrared guided measurement (IGM) technology, which helps guide the user directly to any problem areas. The Flir MR160 features 4800 pixel (80 x 60) thermal image resolution, 9 Hz image frame rate, automatic image calibration, 9 material groups for the moisture pin probe, up to 9999 image storage, 18 hours battery lifespan, 3000 mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery, single laser pointer centered with thermal image, and a 320 x 240 pixel 2.3” display.
Using the Flir MR160 is very intuitive with simple point operation, snapshot button, toggle laser button, and center directional pad. The Flir MR160 is a truly innovative unit that can help anyone find potential moisture or temperature related issues. Even if the user is not completely sure there is a moisture problem, the Flir MR160 can even use pin-type (intrusive) probes for a more direct and accurate approach to moisture readings.
