Which one? (Part VI) – FLIR T Series bx for Building Diagnostics Applications
In a world filled with chaos and seemingly infinite thermal imaging choices, one man seeks to reveal the truth about the features and uses of Flir’ series of cameras. This is part VI and the completion of this heroic quest - FLIR T Series bx (T420bx, T440bx, T620bx, T640bx) for Building Diagnostics Applications!! (Too overdramatic?). Anyway, this is the last one for this blog series.
If you take a look at the previous posts of mine, you will see that the features of the bx series tend to mirror those of the regular series of cameras but with some small differences that apply specifically to building and residential applications. The T series bx follows suit. Flir recommends the T series bx if you have high demand thermal imaging needs like those involved in building inspection, energy auditing, restoration or roofing. As mentioned before the rotating optical block sets this camera apart from the pack and allows you to view targets at odd angles whilst saving your back and making your workday much easier.
Another benefit is the interchangeable lens options, which include wide angle lenses for survey big areas, like those in roofing inspection. As always, the bx series features a greater thermal sensitivity than its normal counterpart (up to 35mK on T640bx) allowing you detect the minute temperature differences that occur in things like air leaks and excess moisture spots. Also included are all the wi-fi features mentioned in previous posts and the link via Bluetooth to Extech MeterLink meters, so you can embed moisture data into your thermal images.
MSX is also featured on these cameras and provides some rather stunning images (see an image of a residential kitchen to the right) that have visible light digital cameras details etched into the thermograms in real time. These highly detailed images are perfect for showing to contractors and insurance companies, as well as promoting your residential or building services as top of the line.
